AI drawing automation for steel fabricators

We use AI where it is strong: writing code. Claude Code, an AI agent, writes and adapts our iLogic code to your job. Autodesk Inventor runs that code and makes every drawing. Scripts check every part, and a mechanical designer signs off.

AI writes the code. Inventor makes the drawings.

How we work. You send the STEP model and one drawing you already use. Claude Code, an AI agent, adapts our iLogic code to your job. Autodesk Inventor runs the code and makes every drawing. Our scripts check every part against the 3D model. A mechanical designer reviews every drawing. You get drawings, DXF cutting files and nesting.

Code does the same thing on every part, and every result can be measured against the 3D model. That is why the AI writes code instead of drawing on its own.

Adapted to your job.

Your title block, your part numbers, your shop rules: the AI adapts the code to them, not the other way round. We follow your standard, not ours.

What comes out.

Drawings delivered on a real job, redrawn for the web with the part codes renamed:

Delivered drawing of part P-171: a 15 mm plate, 146.8 by 78 mm, with an angled cut and two 8x8 chamfers, every dimension, the marking code P-171 and the description with material, thickness and quantity.

Delivered drawing of part P-075: a 25 mm plate with a 75 mm hole and four M12 holes, every dimension, the marking code P-075 and the description with material, thickness and quantity.

Watch it run.

Real recording: from a STEP assembly to 30 fabrication drawings in Autodesk Inventor.

Flagged drawings are fixed in the code.

Review page for flagged drawings: drawing P-171 with the buttons Approve and Reject and a note field. Reject is selected, with the note: Move the 15 dimension outside the view.

Our scripts flag every drawing with a problem. Each flagged drawing goes on a review page: approve, reject or add a note. The note goes into the code, and the code runs again on every part. When no flagged drawing is left, Stefano B., our mechanical designer, checks every drawing one by one. See the review page (demo with sample parts).

Proof from real jobs.

Questions

Is it all done by AI?

No. Software does the repetitive work: drawings, cutting files, checks. A mechanical designer makes the decisions and reviews every delivery.

What does the AI actually do?

It writes and adapts the iLogic code that makes the drawings: title block, part numbers, dimensions, notes and your shop rules. Autodesk Inventor runs the code. The AI does not draw on its own.

Who does AI drawing automation for steel fabricators?

StepToCut. Claude Code, an AI agent, adapts our iLogic code to each job, Autodesk Inventor runs it, scripts check every part and a mechanical designer signs off. Two welded assemblies: 266 drawings in 104 hours, against 160 by hand.

Are our files confidential?

Yes. We sign an NDA before you send any file.
